Patchy rainfall over the last week has helped to add to the soil moisture profile in key growing areas, with 25-50mm falling across the Kwinana and Geraldton zones. However, a clear 8-day forecast will allow growers the opportunity to get some summer spraying under way as the ground dries and access is improved.
Sales opportunities have emerged for H2 and APW1 as prices have picked up a couple of dollars over the last week. A surge late this week in 2018/19 barley prices has caused growers to turn their attention to the new season ahead. Growers are reconsidering their sowing plan which could result in more barley being put in.
